Today I went to see Mantua's Sterling M-10 to test out my new Sony HDR-CX405 camcorder. It's a decent little camcorder and records in 1080p 60FPS, but I'm not sure why it turned out so grainy and why the microphone nearly maxed out. I'm thinking the reason it's grainy may be because of the glare, because I was sort of facing the sun which was sideways from me. All in all, this camera's gonna need some more testing before I plan on using it, and I was a little disappointed by the mediocre quality (but I might have to change the file format from AVCHD to X AVC S instead; AVCHD works fine on my computer and opens the file in a MOV format for me automatically), but I might have been zoomed in a bit too far, athough I don't believe I was zoomed in all the way. Sorry for the shakiness, the sole reason I recorded this today was to test out this new camera.
It doesn't fit on my tripod right because the mount is backwards on this camera (it's near the lens instead of having the mount in the middle), so it's a bit heavier on the bottom part of the camera, causing it to move around a bit.
Near the end, the wind down was butchered by an ambulance from the fire department responding. This Sterling was much louder than I remember it being in July, but perhaps that's because I wasn't wearing ear protection this time and had to plug my ears.
Mantua tests this Sterling M-10 every Sunday at approximately 12:02 PM (but be ready by 12:00), year-round. This siren is on a timer, so it goes off no matter what. Enjoy!
