in which alexandra spends [REDACTED] hours drawing hayley kiyoko while singing her album, but only manages to recreate her sad twin
hello potential friends! it has been a HOT MINUTE since i've done an artsy album chat. bit of a different vibe this time than the ones i've done before
in terms of an album review? since i didn't get into that very much in the video, i'll share some thoughts here: i do like it (obviously enough to draw and sing it) and there's no songs i really dislike or anything, no super flop moments, but i admit i don't find it as compelling as her citrine ep, which knocked it out of the park. as ever, the wonder of hearing explicitly gay lyrics in pop songs is so good, but in many of the songs i find myself wanting either more dancey-ness or more edge. that being said, it's a good album and there's some really cool moments in it: the opening track and the interludey bit "xx" are particular favourites that aren't in this video...love me some weirder stuff in my pop songs that hint at an overall arc for an album.
i've spent so long on this drawing i can't help but hate it, but i am actually....improving? i think? at digital art? maybe it's just the fact that i spent more time on this than other ones. they say if a monkey types on a typewriter long enough, eventually they'll bang out the works of shakespeare
leave me a comment if there's an album you want to see me draw and sing! probably i'll do the 5sos album when it comes out, but since i don't have a theme to go by anymore (i used to be doing "my top ten albums of the year" for the other ones) i'll just do these sporadically when an album catches either my singing or my drawing fancy (or both)
note: this technically is the third "episode 5" i've done...i originally had an episode 5 album that i've now made into an unlisted video because i'm not jazzed about the artist anymore, and after that i had my unfinished one direction drawing, which would be the new episode 5 if not for the fact that it was unfinished, so really, chronologically this is episode 7, but i'm calling it episode 5 so it looks cohesive in the playlist
another note: yes, that one chair leg is incredibly wonky. i see it too. it's too late to fix it for the video, but hopefully i will remember to go back in and fix that before i post it on tumblr (not that it will be reblogged by anyone, but i do have my pride)
