in which alexandra attempts to draw a portrait of emma stone as mia from la la land...while trying to sing mia's solo from la la land
so i sort of cried over this movie for...the last thirty minutes of it? it was beautifully shot and put together, and mia's story really resonated with me as i've gone through/am going through a lot of stuff that is similar to her journey in the movie. i was crying so much during this song in the theatre that i legitimately had no idea what half of the lyrics were until i went home and listened to it again on spotify.
(this being said: thank fuck moonlight won best picture, that movie was stunning and la la land was just enjoyable unless you had all the crazy emotional baggage i was bringing to it)
luckily, emma stone does not have a crazy broadway singer voice, so this was well within my range to sing! as i've said to someone on here before, i usually feel like finding a backing track that i did not create is cheating somehow, but i loved this song too much to let it stand with just my voice. i found a piano cover on here that was free to use! please check that out here: youtube.com/watch?v=UI6Qp-eDeOY
