The year was 1998 and Sega wanted a fresh new start for their blue gaming miracle. Sonic grew his hair and quills really long and developed envy green eyes and started rocking out with electric guitars. The game being advertised at the time was his first fully 3D adventure titled ''Sonic Adventure'' and it was one hell of a game! It featured one of the greatest soundtracks in gaming history with a mix of hard rock, punk rock and even a style called ''boogie rock''. All the characters had their own songs complete with vocals by guest singers. This trend continued through several sequels and spin-offs such as ''Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes and Sonic And The Secret Rings''.
At the time in the early 2000's having vocals in Sonic music wasn't that common but now it's almost in every Sonic game going forward spanning many different genres. I believe Sonic CD was the first followed by Sonic R on the Saturn.
Most of the songs on this album are hard rock/soft metal tracks with a few punk rock songs and even a jazz infused rap song.
I recorded all the Sonic Adventure tracks from real hardware while the others had to be recorded from the net because the sound tests of SA2 and Sonic Heroes don't play the full songs in the sound test but rather loop after the first chorus.

If anybody is wondering, I uploaded a video yesterday but it never published due to copyright. It was called ''The Very Best Of SEGA Mega-CD Rock & Metal'' and featured a variety of heavy music from 7 games on the system. The tracks that were copyrighted were the Road Rash CD songs as that game featured a licensed soundtrack instead of one made specifically for that game. I knew it was going to be copyrighted but I wasn't expecting such a harsh move by youtube to block it entirely. I thought maybe a content ID match and no monetisation but no, the video was blocked worldwide and there was no way it could be heard until I uploaded the entire video file to my MEGA account. I think next time i'll upload something a bit more kid-friendly like maybe Mario on the Mega-CD or go back to chiptune music. I'm getting tired of every video having copyrighted content in it including this one. This is the problem with redbook audio, once in a while it gets tagged for copyright due to the composer signing with a record label that's potentially attached to a major record company. For most games, this isn't a problem but every once in a while something you upload gets tagged and it's nearly always recorded music not synthesized music.
