Mega Drive 50Hz
Sonic Excursions is another exciting Sonic The Hedgehog 16-bit audio CD made for fans of the series and anyone with a casual ear who wants to hear it. Sonic and his friends each dash off on exciting excursions into mountains, everglades, forests, temples and industrial areas who continue to stop Dr. Robotnik from invading these lands.
The album is a personally made compilation by me of some well known Sonic tunes from different games in his career as well as from other games on the SEGA Mega Drive.
You'll hear music from Megaman: The Wily Wars, Socket, Sonic 3D Flickies' Island, Sonic 3, Sonic Spinball, Sonic Triple Trouble and Sonic 4. I've arranged the music so the tracks start off really slow and then gradually build up momentum in tempo halfway through the album until letting rip the full speed of the various Sonic 4 tracks.
You don't have to all tell me the music's running slower because I already know and purposely made it sound that way. The music comes from several Sonic hacks all of which are unoptimised in audio in 50Hz except Sonic The Hackable. I wanted Endless Mine to be slower as it gives a different feel to the listener, almost like a ballad or love song. Some tracks still play at their normal intended speed and that's because some of the hacks have a speed shoe option in the sound test which is what I used for Sunset Park and Panic Puppet 2. Except for Endless Mine, all the other tracks sound exactly the same as the official PAL versions from the original games, the only difference is that they all have the Sonic 1 and 2 drum kit.
Also, whoever it was that made the Sonic 4 FM renditions here did an incredible job! I mean these versions sound vastly superior to the originals. The stereo reverb on those synths is amazing!

All tracks are recorded from an original PAL ''High Definition Graphics - Stereo Sound'' VA5 SEGA Mega Drive model 1 console by using an Everdrive cart. The sound was taken from the front 3.5mm headphone jack and recorded straight to a blank audio CD-R disc for streaming back in the PAL SEGA Mega-CD II attachment.
No emulation was used in the making of this CD.
