...So here's a solar ignition technique I've tried many times without success the beer, or soda, can base reflector.

...I always thought my fails were down to my polishing of the base. This is a critical factor & it does have to have a near mirror finish. Anyway after watching David West demonstrating this I realised I wasn't finding the right focal point. His tip is to find the focal point on your finger first then move your tinder to that point.

...Once I got it dialed in this way I had the charr cloth smoking in no time. If your not subscribed to David West on YouTube I strongly recommend you do. He's a master at solar ignition & has many amazing fire lighting skills in all fields which he generously shares & gives countless tips & tutorials on this fascinating subject.
