...So here's another option if you've only got thin material for your hearth board. Yhe two stick hearth. Basically you just lash two sticks together & drill in-between them.

...Sounds easy but it took quite a few attempts to get to this point & it was s real hang fire emberin the end but it just managed to creep into existence. The full version will be up on my YouTube channel, link in bio.

...so that's my #toptipsontuesdays for this week,  the two stick hearth board.  Not the easiest of options but it is an option.
