With the recent news that Sony closed down Bluepoint Studio I felt obliged to check out one of gaming's most beloved treasures and one game that I have never experienced. Bluepoint was responsible for the HD remaster and of course the remake. Shadow of the Colossus always looked a bit abstract to me when I was younger and I never tried it, but many decades later I am so happy to have made the plunge and expeirence this unique game that is truly one of a kind.
Shadow of the Colossus tells the story of a young hero who travels a cursed land in search of giant creatures that he needs to take down in order to save his beloved. Despite there not being a lot of dialogue or cutscenes, the story has some very unique twists and turns and a great ending that gives room for discussion.
The gameplay itself is fantastic, though it did take me a few tries before it clicked and I understood it. The two major gameplay sequences are as follows: you first traverse the giant map in search of your next Colossus to take down and then once you arrive you will have to figure out its weakness or unique mechanic in order to best it. This starts out simple, but some get very complex as you first need to do certain actions in order to get an oppertunity to strike.
The absolute highlight are the flying Colossi as it feels so epic and awesome to hold onto dear life when you are high in the sky and are running and climbing over this giant, flying behemoth. I have never experienced this in another game and Shadow of the Colossus truly has these magical moments that make it so unique. That feeling of riding on your horse towards a Colossus that is sliding through the sand and then jumping off at just the right time in order to grab onto the giant beast. Truly awesome and also a game that I think is fantastic to experience in hard mode.

![COWBOY BEBOP Serenade of Reminiscence [ENGLISH] | Full Game 4K Walkthrough | No Commentary
Today we have something very special to archive. Back when I was a teenager one of my favorite anime was Cowboy Bebop. It was the first time I realized that anime and cartoons also existed that were not necessarily targeting a young audience. The style of the characters was different and the storylines were deep and complex. The cyberpunk style mixed with jazzy tones and wild west themes make Cowboy Bebop still a unique anime that has never been copied.
I was therefore surprised to find out that an actual game was made for the PlayStation 2, but it was never released in the west. Only recently was a translation offered online and with that I could finally archive Cowboy Bebop Serenade of Reminiscence and present it to a western audience. The game plays like a beat em up and we follow our heroes Spike, Faye and Jet as we look for a treasure that is linked to a mysterious song called Diamonds.
The games beat em up action can be a bit repetitive, but I was surprised at how fluid and beautifully animated the combos were. You get to play as all three characters and their move set differs greatly. There are also sections where you get to shoot and these are a bit less optimal as the controls are clunky and the AI is a bit iffy. Then there are moments where you get to steer some flying vehicles and these offer some nice, little variety. Some of the moments can be a bit frustrating and outlast their welcome like when you are controlling Jet and need to find bombs on your ship. Other than that it nails the atmosphere and all the charactes are voiced by their original cast.
It shows great potential and maybe someday we will get a cowboy bebop game with current game technology.
