Today we archive an absolute classic that reminds me of the golden days of YouTube Let's Plays. Brothers a Tale of Two Sons was the first major project by the famous Josef Fares. It is a singleplayer adventure game with a very unique twist as you control two characters at once. With each stick on the controller you control one of the two brothers and with the triggers you let them perform context sensitive actions.
Despite the game being marketed as a singleplayer game, many YouTubers (me included) love to play this game with my partner where you both hold the controller and each controls one of the two brothers. I highly recommend this to couples and friends as it makes the overal experience all the better and its easy for those who have never played a game before.
The story is simple, but very effective and surprisingly emotional. After losing their mother, the two brothers need to find a cure at a sacred tree for their sick and dying father. This will take them on an epic journey involving trolls, dungeons, haunted forests and even giants. The pacing is perfect as no segment or gameplay mechanic lasts too long to get repetitive. The controls feel responsive and I was surprised how good the game still looks 13 years later. It is a true testament of how it has stood the test of time and despite the remake, this original is still good to recommend.
