As my NENDY (Nearest Event Not Done Yet) I was looking forward to visiting here but I needed to wait for a week when Rob was free as his Grandad used to work at the Orgreave Coking Plant so he was looking forward to visiting. The previous week the event had an issue and as a result the entire field was given 59:59 (absolutely the right thing to do - human error had resulted in the course being short). During the week the event had a fair bit of stick online, as well as some people making negative comments on the day. I usually stay out of Facebook groups but when people highlighted the comments people were making then I felt compelled to defend the team. After all, we are all human, and have all made mistakes! This meant I was really looking forward to attending to show support to this lovely event team too.
The course is usually a 2-lapper around the lake but due to ongoing works then the event is running their B course for the foreseeable future. This is an out-and-back course and it was great to check this out. The team were utterly fantastic and there are some awesome café options too. We had a great time and even did some plogging on the way round.
