For my final marathon of 2023 I entered the IGUN Christmas Cracker. There was the option to run on the Saturday but obviously I chose the Sunday race because... parkrun!

This marathon was a test of my knee to see if my Runner's Knee is better. I treated it as a long slow run (LSR) with the addition of people at checkpoints feeding me cake! What's not to love?! Having a cold for one! I wasn't sure if I should run as I was feeling terrible but I figured that as long as I was sensible then I had nothing to lose.

I can't wait for my 5 marathons in 5 days next year. I have been really needing a goal to work towards and now I have one!

$Running Pontypridd parkrun. parkrun Challenges: The Full Ponty. parkrun Tourism in South Wales The beauty of parkrun is that it can be whatever you want it to be, from a simple 5km run/jog/walk on a Saturday morning, to a complex world of challenges, Wilson Index chasing and p-Index increasing. For me the parkrun challenges keep me engaged and excited and provide a focus for my parkrun tourism. This year Ive decided to complete The Full Ponty: Running at all 4 parkruns with Ponty/Ponte in their name. Pontefract was easy as it is only 25 minutes down the road but Ponty number 2 was harder. We headed to South Wales to run at Pontypridd parkrun the day before I took on the Dragon 50 - a 50 mile ultra along the Wales Coast path. This park is amazing and has so many facilities as well as an incredible Lido! I highly recommend booking tickets for the lido for a post-parkrun swim if you can. Definitely worth a visit and the team at Pontepridd parkrun were super friendly. A local running club was doing a takeover the week we visited and there was a real party atmosphere!
