Hi Kaza, let's welcome yet another new player to the channel! They're still kinda new to the game in general, as this was their first Italy game.
Starting builds are interesting on this one, i figured the exact middle of the map was best but jbode in chat disagreed. He later told me that Ancona would've been better for me because i'd still be able to jump north early and should get the rest of purple if needed - something to think about!
Kaza actually did really well early on in terms of builds and plants, but killed themselves by overpaying for the 26. Between me & daroj the game came down to Plant 15 vs. 16...usually 16 is far better so i took that. Unfortunately for me, 20 & 25 weren't in this game at all and 21 didn't show up until right before Step 3...so there wasn't much competition for coal and 15 made far more money in the long run. Look at our ending difference in money and you'll see it all came from that one decision!
Actually very happy with how i played the endgame, buying the plants that would make me the most money on the first two turns of Step 3; when in doubt, play for the long game! Wouldn't have been able to make it to 18 had i paid up for 36 or 38, so i did my best to get back in the game. Wasn't quite enough but no regrets, 15 does not usually stay that good.
