An important conversation is happening online around Postpartum Depression. It is essential that women can secure focused medical and mental health resources; and that we remind them it is a modern phenomenon to expect a mother to handle everything herself; or to teach her that Motherhood is instinct and she’s doing it wrong if it doesn’t “come easily” to her. As we discuss resourcing mothers and parents, let us also consider how we can also support women relationally so they don’t feel there’s no one to turn to.
