Day 2 opens up with Aya & Daniel talking with their colleagues about what happened last night. One thing becomes apparent with the conversation...Aya's going to need a stronger firearm. As such, she goes to see the chief, Baker, who agrees that they can't take this case lightly and hands Aya a Mod Permit to take down to Torres in weapon storage.
If you happen to have a full inventory, no worries since Baker will give you the chance to put things into storage.
To get to weapons storage, take the door out of the office, then head down the stairs to the west. The door will be the one closest to the south.
Inside, Torres isn't around, but rather Wayne. He tries to offer Aya something like a shotgun or rocket launcher, but Torres comes in and promptly kicks Wayne out from his spot.
Like with Baker, if you have a full inventory, you'll get a unique scene where Wayne will let you put stuff into storage. If you ever need to put anything into storage or take stuff out, speak to him.
With a spare inventory slot, Torres hands Aya a M16A1 rifle. Now would be a good time to talk about different weapon types since we have three different types right now.
Clubs are exclusively melee weapons due to a range stat of 10. Attack's speed alright, but the ATB recharge rate is the best. Still not a weapon type you're going to be relying on heavily from here on out though.
Handguns are pretty solid all around. No real weak offensive stats and a good attack rate, reload time, and ATB recharge rate. If you wanted to use handguns exclusively, it wouldn't be a bad idea.
Rifles have one notable advantage...the highest range of all weapon types. High attack power too. The problem though isn't so much a slightly slower ATB recharge rate, but rather it takes a good half second or so for Aya to pull the gun up and start shooting.
As for that Mod Permit? It can be handed to Torres to increase the number of slots on a weapon by 1. You are not forced to use it here though so just cancel out of using it for now.
Talk to Wayne afterwards to get a brief tutorial about Tools. This lets you move bonus stats or an ability from a weapon or armor to another one. This destroys said weapon/armor.
Should also talk a bit about bp too. Every enemy has a hidden bp value that it grants you upon its defeat. Taking hits lowers this bp gain. When you level up, all bp accumulated is added into your pool for you to spend. Costs 100 bp to add +1 to Active Time, Item Inventory, or any of your weapon/armor stats.
As you explore the police station, you'll run into a kid. This is Daniel's son Ben and he happens to have tickets for a concert happening in Central Park. He wants his dad to go with him, but police duties unfortunately put a damper on that and Ben storms off.
At this time, you'll want to check in with Baker and see if he's got anything to say, but first, check out the locker room next to the office. There's several lockers you can open, but only two hold anything of worth. One has a Cure-P or Medicine 2, but the other holds a Cm Vest 1.
Talking with Baker, there's going to be a meeting with the press and he wants Aya there, but only to answer when he says so, lest the media do some advanced mental gymnastics to try twisting their words.
The meeting with the media seems to go well enough...until someone asks a question specifically to Aya about how she was the sole survivor. Suffice to say her answer riles up the media, but the meeting luckily ends right there.
While Baker grills Aya for her actions, he gets a call from a mysterious individual of foreign nature talking about mitochondria. He's apparently coming in to town, but in the meantime, someone at the museum just posted a new theory on mitochondria. Daniel & Aya are going to go over and talk to this person to see if anything helps with the Eve case.
The whole visit to this guy at the museum, a man by the name of Dr. Hans Klamp, seems to trigger some kind of flashback in Aya, suggesting that she might have seen him before.
The whole discussion of mitochondria ends almost immediately when Aya mentions the person last night called herself Eve, stunning Klamp as he tells them he knows no more and they can leave. Classy!
On the way back to the police station, a lucky break in the case comes in. Eve's heading to Central Park, but nobody has gotten the memo that Eve's bad news and the people need to be evacuated or Eve stopped before she decides on a repeat performance. Daniel rushes off since his son and ex-wife Lorraine have gone there, forcing Aya to rush off with him.
At Central Park, Daniel finds very quickly that he can't go in guns blazing cause of being ignited. Aya can though and there's a save point inside.
More next time!
