Final Fantasy IV: Ultima is a hack by 8-bit fan that aims to present a more expansive version of the classic. New weapons, spells, bosses, and a modified overworld are just a few of the changes on tap.
The latest version of the patch can always be found here:

Version being played: 21.5
The longest world tour continues as one of the moon optional bosses gets dealt with in today's video.
For this one, you'll need to locate a cave entrance just to the west of the Crystal Spire. Inside the cave is one chest that's monster trapped, but rewards some Zeus Gauntlets...and a sparkle that'll only challenge your team to combat when you've beaten Goddess.
This optional boss is another one of the dragon variety, the Crystal Dragon. Right off the bat it'll cast Slow on the entire party. Not the worst thing to deal with...until you get to its signature attack on the next turn, Crystalize. This hits everyone for 50% of their max hp in damage...and it can't be reduced like Lightning Flash could. That means staying at full health is going to be vital this entire fight.
Also, in true dragons are jerks fashion, it has a gimmick. Use a physical as your first attack and your whole party is going to get hit extremely hard. You'll need to use a magic attack of some kind, ideally a heavy hitting one like Ultima, Bahamut, or Flare. Doing so will prompt it to say "Not bad...", then use MgGuard. It's now immune to magic attacks and requires a physical attack to prompt a "..." into a PhyGuard, making it immune to physicals, but can be struck by magic again.
Oh, and don't even think about using a non-Fight command when it's vulnerable to physicals. It'll still slap you silly with Crush or Eclipse.
The CD's own rotation post Crystalize isn't anything real threatening aside from Vitalize, but two moves are worth mentioning, Black Hole & Cosmo. The latter is a lightly damaging AoE attack while the former rips buffs off of your whole team. This is hugely important because when the CD loses enough health, it's going to toss surprise physical counters into the mix that'll heal it up for the amount of damage it dealt. Image status on everyone is the only way you're getting past the latter half of the fight.
If all that wasn't bad enough, it also goes into a Fire Dragon-esque simplistic combo of Crystalize, then Vitalize on the next turn, then back to Crystalize. If you have that Megalixir from Mt. Heavensward kicking around still, using it when this phase begins is a very good idea so everyone else can go on the offensive right away. This final phase also removes the physical/magical shield shenanigans too (but it will return if it heals up above the threshold to go into the final phase).
Edward ends up being one of the most vital party members here thanks to being able to salve Decoys, saving you four turns having to use them one by one to get everyone image'd up.
As for offense, pick one dedicated physical attacker and magic attacker for the first half. Either Edge or DK Cecil for physicals while Rydia or Palom handle magic. Everyone else is on healing duties. Once the physical counters start showing up, throw out everything you have while keeping image status up on everyone to end the fight before the constant Crystalizes overwhelm you.
Beating the CD rewards you with a Lunar Helm. Basically the helmet version of the Lunar Shield, but trades in a few effective when defending against enemy types for a 5 points boost to all stats. Really nice to get holy/dark/wind protection on characters who can't use the Lunar Shield.
Also, new spells! Rydia & Palom pick up Cosmo & Quasar. Cosmo is meh, but Quasar is basically a slightly weaker Meteo with a much lower charge time. Do note that this is before 22.0 which makes Quasar (and Flare!) exclusive to Palom.
The best reward though? Edge's Illusion ninjutsu. Edward being the only one able to get image on the whole party at once? Not anymore since Edge can do it now. He's basically solidified a permanent slot in my team now with that in mind.
So now, the only ones left are....Ultima Buster & Neo Bahamut. May just have to finally do some leveling to get prepared for these two.
