I’ll never forget when I first traveled to Kenya in 2015 and a friend of mine told me that I could expect to see Maasai gatherings where all would be squatting. Instead, I found gatherings where everyone was sitting in plastic Walmart-type white chairs! 😧 Unfortunately the west had unwittingly exported our way of sitting to the detriment of body position traditions (so to speak). 😐
This is not unlike our exporting cereals and snack foods & fast food and sodas-pseudo foods that have little to no nutrient value to developing nations that see such foods as “progress” and fun. 🫥
As I write this caption, I am splayed out on my front lawn. 👍🏼Thanks Bam for reminding me (& all of us) that we were not meant to sit w/ our body at right angles all day long , wherever in the world we live! 😬
What do you think? Does our movement and lack thereof need an ancestral overhaul? Is our furniture making things worse for us? 🤪
