Today’s objective is to shed some light on the differences between younger MGP (Indiana Bourbon) and very mature stocks. To do that, I’ll be reviewing the current Nine Banded Cask Strength Wheated Bourbon & a single barrel of Rebecca Creek’s sourced 16-year-old. Nine Banded is available in most online shops and this 115 proof cask strength bottle retails around $50. It’s made from a “wheated bourbon” mashbill of 51% Corn, 45% Wheat, & 4% Barley. The Rebecca Creek 16 year was sourced from MGP and then matured for a while at R.C.’s San Antonio, Texas location. It was a limited 2022 release and the bottle I’m reviewing is from Barrel#12 which was only 104 proof, but retailed for $225. It’s made from MGP’s low rye mashbill (75% Corn, 21% Rye, & 4% Barley). There were some single barrels at much higher proofs, and if you have options, those are probably the best ones to buy. And just for my Patrons, I’ll also be reviewing the very best MGP I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting! The in-famous (that means more than famous) OKI single barrel nicknamed “Rickey Bobby” at 118.5 proof! So, kick back with a nice pour and let’s taste some great whiskeys!

Currently, our two new Special Editions are almost gone. But don’t worry, we just created Batch 2’s of both! Our "Nobleman" Rye Whiskey was aged in Hungarian Tokaji (pronounced Tok-eye) sweet wine casks! The other is a twist on our "Herald" Bourbon that adds Pineau Des Charentes casks to the mix. All are delicious, and given my knowledge and high standards, you know I’m working hard with my team to continue releasing whiskeys that we're proud of!
