Here I review a couple of Laphroaig travel retail exclusives (duty free). One is named “An Cuan Mòr”, which means 'Big Ocean' in Gaelic. The whisky in it is initially matured in first-fill American white oak bourbon barrels and then finished in European oak casks. It retailed around $65, was bottled at 48% abv, and is sold in a 70cl. size. The second is labeled as “PX Cask - Triple Matured”. And you guessed it, it’s made with whisky matured in three types of casks. The first and main maturation is in the standard American ex-Bourbon barrels. Next the whisky is transferred into Quarter casks for some time before being finished in Pedro Ximénez casks. This one retails around $90, is bottled at 48% abv, but is sold in a large 1 liter size.
