So here we have the highly anticipated Ardbeg 21 year old to review. At $500 retail, this isn’t going to be on anybody’s “Bargain Buy” list, but it is what it is. Formally destined to be blending stock, 270 casks of this 21 year old whisky were bought back from Chivas by Ardbeg. Of those, they used 135 casks for this release and from what I can tell, there will only be 8,268 bottles (or so) to go around. To be honest, it wasn't what I had hoped, but considering they had to buy this back, I guess it's the best they could do for an aged, age stated Ardbeg.
As of 09-22-2016, my current bottle count is approaching 2,400. I am a Certified Specialist of Spirits and have also been certified by the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). I've been actively collecting for the last two decades and what started as a small basic home bar has transformed (with the help and understanding of my wonderful wife) into what I think is a pretty nice collection.
