This was one of my favorite songs from 1983, and it's by the Canadian synthpop band called Men Without Hats. Led by singer-songwriter and musician Ivan Doroschuk, the band had a huge worldwide hit with this track, which went to #3 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and went all the way to #1 on the Dance chart. "The Saftey Dance" also went to #6 on the UK Pop chart, and became #1 in Denmark, Portugal, and South Africa, while charting in the Top Five in countries like Australia, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. The synthesizers used here are just incredible, and there's also a must-see music video that features British folk revival imagery, which I initially thought was some kind of medieval festival.
