Originally sung by actress Mary Badham in the 1966 movie, "This Property Is Condemned," this wistful track was also covered by many other artists, including Brazilian singer Astrud Gilberto. Her version is just beautiful, relaxing, and a departure from her bossa nova and samba recordings, with a lush orchestral arrangement featuring some lovely sweeping strings and what sounds like a harmonica. "Wish Me A Rainbow" was released as a single in 1966 but did not chart, making it another of those songs that I thought deserved to be a bigger hit. The odd thing about this release is that it never appeared in any of her studio albums, considering she had an album titled "Look To The Rainbow" that was released also that same year; the song appeared much later in some of her compilation albums.
