This incredible structure serves as the focal point of the railroad, and we are close to completion after over four years!
Returning to construction after side-lining this project years ago, we are finishing the HUGE (1:20.3 scale) Chama coaling tower! The heart of the layout is the locomotive shops, turntable with a three-stall engine house, boiler house, ash pit, water tank with water collum, sand house, AND a Fairbanks-Morse coaling tower that stands almost three feet tall.
We started with a "kit." It was a beta version of a kit that Ozark Miniatures never produced. So it presented many challenges to get right and much needed to be reworked or scratch-built.
This week let's get caught up with some of the work from four years ago and make a plan for going forward.
