After 10 years building our indoor/outdoor railroad we are finally closing the gap between East and West!
We are driving a golden spike with the usual amount of hoopla and ceremony! Otto Mears has even shown up for the event.  The Glenbrook, and the Eureka have shown up to be the locomotives to face off across the gap.
Karyn has used her excellent jewelry making skills to construct for us an actual golden spike. Well, as a matter of fact, she made two! The one is a little bit too large and the other one is just right. It is our intention to leave the gold spike in place. I’m like the union pacific who grabbed their and ran at the end of the event.
Always fun to look back on the build starting with the tear out clear back in 2014. And yet considering what we’ve done it’s amazing that we’ve been able to achieve this in just over 10 years.
