Live steam locomotives pull trains at an amusement park built by the Denver and Rio Grande Western in 1886! Utah's Lagoon Amusement Park.
We journeyed to Utah's Lagoon for Halloween fun and to ride their steam train ride. Some amusement parks use live steam locomotives to pull their train ride and Lagoon is no exception.
The Denver and Rio Grande Western built the lagoon amusement park on the Great Salt Lake in 1886. The park was later sold to the Bamberger Railroad and moved to its main line in Farmington, Utah where it is still operated by the Freed family.
While the park originally had a steam train, a 15-inch Cagney, it later switched that for a 30-inch gas-powered streamlined train that ran until 1976 when steam returned to Lagoon!
