Part two of this incredible structure that serves as the railroad's focal point, and we are close to completion after over four years!
Returning to construction after sideling this project years ago, we are finishing the HUGE (1:20.3 scale) Chama coaling tower! The heart of the layout is the locomotive shops, turntable with a three-stall engine house, boiler house, ash pit, water tank with water column, sand house, AND a Fairbanks-Morse coaling tower that stands almost three feet tall.
We started with a "kit." It was a beta version of a kit that Ozark Miniatures never produced. So it presented many challenges to get right, and much needed to be reworked or scratch-built.
This week, let's get caught up with some of the work from four years ago and make a plan for going forward.
