...Some questions I get asked a lot about the firestones are ; Where do I get the stones ? Do I make them by primitive means ? And Could you show the process of how they're made

...So ! ... All the stones come from the river Mekong, which is less than 30km from where I live. At this time of year the water level drops dramatically exposing many stone beaches that I search through to hand pick stones I think are suitable. I try & pick high silicate stones like, jasper, agate, quartz, etc. Some stones though I I have no idea what they are but I pick them for their unusual colour or nice patterns & if they survive the manufacturing process they can make stunning stones. Occasionally I get access to the stone yards thay store huge piles of dredged river stone that is sold as an aggregate. Here I get access to larger stones that aren't always exposed on the beaches.

...As far as making them primitively goes I just don't have the time. I know from making my first stone that just pecking out the divot & polishing it smooth involved hours of work so to peck out a hole then grind a knife edge on it would take days & I'd have to charge so much that no-one would be able to afford them. So yes I use power tools to speed the process up & keep the stones affordable. Another advantage is that I can cut into rocks to reveal more amazing colours & patterns then I can selectively cut out the nicest part & sometimes I'm lucky & get a couple of stones from one rock.

...Anyway here's the process of how the stones are made & even with electricity there's still a lot of work involved. What originally started as a hobby has now almost turned into a job at the moment with more people joining the list every day. I'm working on batches of around ten at a time & through upgrading my equipment & experience I am gradually getting faster so if your on the list hang in there I'll get to you eventually.
