...I always like to experiment & try new techniques especially if it can save me time

...Previously when retting bark for cordage quite a lot of time was spent stripping the bark first but my wife told me about a process that she's seen used locally.

...It basically involves tying the sticks or stems with the bark still on into tight bundles then weighting them down under water. I guess the length of time to leave them will depend upon where you are & what the temperature is but round here, at the top end of the tropics, three weeks is long enough.

...I was quite surprised how easy it was to peel the bark off these Thai Red rosella stems & it certainly saved time compared to stripping the bark first.
