Kevin Costner's new western has become a success on digital platforms.
When Kevin Costner's supposedly magnum opus debuted in theaters a while back, movie did not do well. No, it even had a terrible first impression for Chapter 1 of Horizon: An American Saga. It was so awful, in fact, that Costner, who had personally put a lot of money into the movie, had to risk losing his own properties to get it made. As a result of the low ticket sales, the sequel Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 was also removed from theaters.
But shame on them, because since Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 was made available on video-on-demand (VOD) platforms, the movie has become wildly popular (thanks to IndieWire) and is now among the most streamed movies on various digital platforms.
Is Costner's extravagant project, which is estimated to have cost around £100 million (to date), salvageable? We sincerely hope that this is the case since it would be heartbreaking if the narrative ended there.
What is your impression of the movie Horizon, having watched it on VOD?
