Kevin Costner leads tributes to Dabney Coleman
In a heartfelt ode, Kevin Costner honored his costar from Yellowstone.
The actor captioned three stills from a heartfelt scene he was in with his on-screen father on his Instagram Story, saying, "One of the most heart wrenching scenes I've been a part of."
The actor said, "What an honor to have gotten to work with Dabney Coleman." "I hope he finds peace."
At the age of 92, Dabney Coleman departed from this life last week.
His impressive list of credits includes the movies 9 to 5, On Golden Pond, Tootsie, Cloak & Dagger, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Inspector Gadget, Recess: School's Out, Moonlight Mile, and Rules Don't Apply.
In Peter Levin's 1987 judicial drama Sworn To Silence, he received an Emmy for best supporting actor in addition to a Golden Globe for best actor for The Slap Maxwell Story.
Coleman "took his last earthly breath peacefully and exquisitely" on Thursday at his Santa Monica home, according to a statement his daughter released on the family's behalf on Friday.
"With an inquiring mind, a giving heart, and a soul aflame with passion, desire, and humor that delighted humanity's sense of humor, my father skillfully shaped his time on this planet."
Ben Stiller, who starred in Zoolander and Meet the Parents, also praised Coleman on social media for opening doors for character actors.
"As a character actor, the legendary Dabney Coleman almost invented—or defined, in a singularly exceptional way—an archetype.
"It's difficult to imagine the last 40 years' worth of television and movies without him because he was so good at what he did."
