‘Horizon': Kevin Costner Wants to Shoot Chapters 3 & 4 in Spring 2025
In two days, Kevin Costner's "Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1" will be accessible on Max. The intention is to expand the streaming audience in order to expedite the theatrical release of "Chapter 2," which has already been shot.
During the Cannes Film Festival in May, Costner informed me that he had completed filming 'Chapter 3' in nine days, but he had to stop because of financial constraints. The remaining scenes of the movie were supposed to be shot this summer, but preparations fell through. Subsequently, he was revealed to be observing an autumn shoot. That is obviously not going to happen either.
Now that the goal posts have been expanded, Costner is telling NBC that the intention is to film Chapters 3 and 4 consecutively in the spring of next year. I sincerely hope it works out and wish him success. Regardless of my feelings about the first chapter, we should see the entire story told, and from what I've heard, the second chapter—which will make its Venice premiere in September—is better than the first.
The idea is that I've already partially recorded the third. And maybe to shoot them consecutively the next spring. I adore this thing's journey. I adore this movie, but it's been the toughest thing I've ever done. The second one is my favorite; the third is much more difficult than the first two, and the fourth wraps up the plot.
Originally scheduled to release in August, Warner Bros. withdrew "Horizon 2" from release when the first installment failed to pique viewers' interest. As of right now, there is no release date for the sequel. Despite offers from streaming services like Netflix and Amazon to purchase the movies, Costner doesn't seem to be bending. He desires theatrical releases.
