Kevin Costner Debuts Wild West-Approved Mustache at Cannes (John Dutton Is Shaking)
Kevin Costner looks very different!
The 69-year-old two-time Oscar winner was in the South of France on Friday, May 17, for the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. On Sunday, May 19, he will present his film Horizon: An American Saga. This was the first time he had been spotted with a gray mustache.
Costner donned a black suit jacket with a white collared button-down shirt underneath, along with traditional black slacks. He also flaunted a black-and-silver watch as he posed for photos at a Chopard event.
In Yellowstone, Costner played John Dutton without a mustache. He started watching the Western drama series in 2018, although it's unclear what his future holds there right now.
In an interview with Deadline that was published on Tuesday, May 14, he said, "I don't want to get down in the gutter with the Yellowstone thing but what I'm telling you is straight up."
"Those f---ing men have given me a hard time, and I know a lot of times where it's coming from. Regarding his comparatively quiet response to the subject, Costner told the site, "I just chose not to get into that." "I made Yellowstone the top priority, and it would be incorrect to imply otherwise."
His current controversy on the Paramount Network program may be somewhat related to the fact that he was filming his upcoming Western epic at the same time as his other production.
Costner went on to say that he had departed the Horizon set to film what he thought would be Yellowstone's season 5's second half.
"Well, look, I'm filming my movie," I remarked. I can give you a week if that's what you want—to kill me or something else entirely," he said.
Costner told Deadline, "I really didn't have that week to give them, but I said, I'll do that." "And then they [spun that] into, I only wanted to work a week."
According to the movie's summary, Horizon "chronicles a multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre- and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West."
Along with co-writing the screenplay with Jon Baird, Costner produced the movie through his Territory Pictures.
Horizon's first chapter opens in theaters on June 28 and the second on August 16.
