Let’s have that discussion. Is this a legitimate form of a “No Tools, And Materials Gathered Off The Landscape” fire? Indeed, the reading glasses are a tool, but almost never thought of and very rarely used as a fire making tool. If the glasses disqualify, how about the boot laces or a shirt hem used for an emergency bow drill bowstring? You might say, only the tools and materials gathered off the landscape qualify for this type of fire. What if off the littered landscape I used a different magnifier for this demonstration… water bottle, wine bottle, plastic wrap, or Ziploc? What if your choice for emergency fire was hand drill. Would spit for grip disqualify? Your teeth for knifing? Your phone to watch David West emergency fire videos until the rescue helicopter arrived?
