Can a budget knife handle extreme wood splitting? In this video, I put the Morakniv Basic 546 through a brutal torture test. I used a heavy Dogwood baton to split some very hard White Oak. It batoned down into probably 50 pieces! Along the way, the knife got stuck a couple of times, but still, pretty easily, made its way through the entire log.
The Torque Test mentioned in the title is all the times when I had to twist the handle to torque the wood apart. This lateral twisting pressure could easily snap more cheaply made knives.
