Let's review each episode of the cult classic Viva Pinata TV series based on the hit game in (mostly)under 90 seconds!
Transcript:
In Hudson's Holiday, an overworked Hudson finally develops a distracting twitch from his constant workload, thus he's forced to take a vacation. But does the workaholic even know how to relax? I think I've finally noticed something else that really bugs me about this show. And that's the insistence on a two act structure. Yeah, despite each segment only being around eleven minutes, there's an additional break in the middle of each one. Thus the scripts are mostly structured to account for the break, beginning a new chapter after the fade back in. Which most of the time, isn't that noticeable, but with episodes like this, it completely ruins the pacing. Hudson develops the twitch pretty early on, and is told to take a vacation, which he outright refuses to do. Now in a good plot, we'd then see a montage that lasts no more than a minute proving why he needs a vacation before he finally gives in. But because for some reason the story needs a definitive stopping point, we then have to watch Hudson messing up for the next FOUR minutes before things can move on! And it just gets tedious. We KNOW what's going to happen, so at this point, we're just being held hostage until it does! So we just watch Hudson messing up over. And Over. And Over. And Over. Until finally his assistant shoves him on a plane and forces him to take a break. Where thankfully, things start to pick up, as Hudson shows he's completely incapable of relaxing. Every time he does, he immediately reverts to doing a commercial or a showtune, or just autographing anything and everything. At one point, he even ties himself up and starts beating himself with a stick. Which I guess if I was broken in half as many times as these guys are, I'd develop a fetish for it too. So Hudson fails to relax, he's brought back still with the twitch, but his assistant choreographs a dance number around it, and his latest show is a hit. And not a single thing was accomplished. I'm sorry, but at this point, I'm getting as burned out as the writers clearly are. Again, I have to ask why they ordered so many episodes?! Why did they greenlight so many garbage plots, or at least plots that needed another draft? And why did they decide to begin a season with some of the worst? This one isn't as bad as the last few, but I still see no reason to watch it. Also, get used to characters being decapitated, as that becomes a common gag throughout the season. Almost like the animators are trying to drop a hint.
