You are a Catholic church, school, or nonprofit doing good in the world. So you never expect someone to misunderstand your intentions. But when, yes, “when,” someone gets upset, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

That’s why we use release forms for every single person seen or heard in our videos, so there is not even the shadow of fear of litigation.

Be aware this is general info and not legal advice. Always ask a lawyer about this.

There are two types of release forms: individual and group. The individual release form is the most effective, as each person signs it, granting permission to be filmed.

However, in situations like church services, where getting every signature is impractical, a crowd release form works. This form is posted at every door, informing attendees that cameras are present and that entering gives consent to be filmed.

To document this, take a photo of the posted form before anyone enters, ensuring the metadata (time and location) of the picture remains intact.
