You may be missing out on two-thirds of your potential views if you’re not using text in your videos.
The most common type of text is called captions – that’s the words that appear here and transcribe what is being said. These are essential because on social media, 69% of videos are watched without sound. If your audience can’t read the content of your video, they will keep scrolling.
If you’re using an editing platform, like Adobe Premiere, there is usually a separate workview where you can auto-generate captions, as well as alter their look and style. Don’t just stick them at the bottom, make sure the words still appear if your video is cropped into a square. And when you export the video, switch on the setting to “burn in” the captions or the program may not add them into the final version.
Social platforms also have auto-transcribing tools that detect what is said and create the captions for you using AI. Just please make sure to review and edit them manually. Otherwise, you may end up with “dope” instead of “pope” or “ask italians” instead of “episcopalians.”
