Engagement on your social media videos is more important than simple views. It pushes people beyond passive observation into active participation in your mission. But how do you increase engagement on the videos for your Catholic organization?

First, simply ask! At the end of each video, include a call-to-action, that is, concrete instructions on what the viewer should do next. You could ask them to subscribe on social media, to follow the link to your website, or even to share the video with their friends. You’ll be shocked at the number of people who follow your prompt.

Secondly, make that next step easy. Include a link prominently at the top of the video’s description. Or, if you’re boosting it on social media, you can add a big old button to click on. On YouTube, you can add an end screen that is a clickable link overlaid on top of your video at the end.

And finally, give the viewer incentive to engage with your video. You could hold a raffle where the “entry” is a like, a comment, or a share. Or you can give a teaser that can only be answered by following the link you provide. Even a small offer is enough to push many people to engage with your video.

Ask, make it easy, and give your viewers incentive to engage… and the number of people actively participating in your mission will skyrocket.
