...Continuing with the cacao experiments I thought I'd try a piece to the branch I'd cut for the hand drill.

...There wasn't enough, & it wasn't straight enough, for a regular hand drill so I cut a short piece & used it as an insert on a host spindle.
.
...I used a Malayan cherry hearth board & as you see it produced an ember relatively easy.
I have a feeling this stuff might be a good fire plough material too but I'll have to wait until I can get hold of some larger pieces.
