...Ey up firebugs !
.
...So I finished the stone hatchet & thought I'd give it a trial run making a bow drill set near the pond down on the rubber land.
.
...I'm not exactly sure what the stone was  but someone suggested it could be dalcite. Anyway I spent over five hours grinding out the rough shape primitively but  ended up polishing it up on the diamond discs just for aesthetic reasons.
.
...I ground the edges of the hatchet flat so that the tapered design would pressure fit into a wooden shaft without the need for pitch or binding. Seemed to work pretty well with each impact bedding it into the tapered shaft  keeping it secure.
.
...Overall it was very educational experiment & I can see how our ancestors would of taken advantage of preformed stones to turn them into functional tools with the least amount of effort.
.
...Happy #fireitupfriday guys !
.
...Have a great weekend, stay safe & I'll catch ya soon.
