...After watching a recent Post by @mattias_norberg_, Where he demonstrated using some untreated horses hoof fungus with flint & steel, I felt inspired to revisit a previous attempt to try artists conk (ganoderma species) in the same way.

...Matthias rubbed his amadou in ash but I wanted to try & take it one step further by only process it by pounding & scraping & using no additives at all.

...I've had success with this using iron pyrite before but the sparks from pyrite though weak are longer lasting than sparks from a steel so my strategy here was to rest the fine fibres right next to the striking edge of the stone then bombarding it with a shower of sparks.

...Fuck me ! It actually worked.....I gotta say I totally surprised myself with this one but if you don't try you'll never know.
