...This week's #toptipsontuesdays is a quick instant spark tinder material. Crampball fungus (daldinia concentrica)

...If you ever come across some grab it because it only grows on dead or dying trees or fallen limbs even. In the Uk I've primarily found it on dead ash but I've so found it on dead Hazel too. It's also found throughout most of the temperate regions & I've also found a variety in Thailand that work exactly the same.

...The main criteria for this is is that it needs to be dry other than that it just needs a little roughing up & it will catch a spark quite readily. A great material to add to your tinder pouch if you come across it.
