...So continuing with my fire plough experimentation I found a dold piece of bamboo that I thought I'd try. No idea what particular species it was but it fit the criteria of being dry & seasoned so I made up a set from it.
.
...It actually took a few attempts but when I did get it, it produced a strong ember. Good to know that such a plentiful resource works for this technique now I need to play around with other bamboo species.
