...This week's #toptipsontuesdays is another tip for making thin or weaker cordage work for bow drills.

...The standard way of tensioning a cord round the spindle wouldn't work with natural cordage & even if the cord was stong enough to tension this way it wouldn't last under so much pressure.
.
...So a way round this is to wrap the cord round the spindle several times. This spreads the load on thd cord & gives you more grip as there is more of the cord in contact with the spindle & with far less tension which means the cord is less likely to break.
