...So I managed to get back up the mountain to one of my favourite spots yesterday to practise a bit of fire lighting.
.
...I had the same hand drill set on me from the other day but it was that hot & humid there was no way of getting enough grip on the spindle. I had a piece of cord I carry in my wazoo cache cap so I found a suitable branch for a bow & set to with the improvised bow drill. It didn't take long before I could see the dust pile smoking but I kept going a while  making a stronger ember to help against the damp conditions.
