Woodturning a sycamore platter is an exquisite art form that combines craftsmanship, creativity, and precision. With the aid of carbide woodturning tools from Easy Wood Tools, the process becomes even more seamless. As the lathe spins, the skilled artisan deftly shapes the piece, bringing out its inherent beauty and natural grain. Once the platter takes its desired form, it is time to enhance its elegance. Applying a coat of Black spirit stain adds a touch of depth and richness to the wood, accentuating its unique characteristics. However, the true pièce de resistance lies in the delicate application of gold leaf although things didn't exactly go to plan in my opinion. Embarking on this journey for the first time, the artist cautiously adorns the platter with shimmering gold, delicately highlighting its curves and contours. The end result is a captivating masterpiece that seamlessly combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics.
