Join me on my woodturning journey as I recreate the iconic 'Golden Fire' piece by Martin Saban-Smith. Inspired by his original design, I've crafted a stunning 22-inch Viking-style shield from Sycamore wood using the Harvey T-60 wood lathe and precision carbide tools from East Wood Tools.
Watch as I infuse this piece with vibrant yellow, red, and orange hues from the Hampshire Sheen Carnival Colors range of wood stains, enhancing its visual appeal. Adding intricate texture using the Dremel 8260, I bring depth and character to the shield's surface.
To achieve a flawless finish, I employ a meticulous process involving Yorkshire Grit abrasive paste and Hampshire Sheen Danish oil, followed by a lustrous finishing wax. Witness the transformation from raw wood to a masterpiece, blending tradition with innovation in this woodturning adventure.
