In this project, I turn a donut made from black epoxy resin and aluminium on my Record Power Coronet Herald wood lathe
This piece was shaped entirely with negative rake cutters from Easy Wood Tools, which helped keep the epoxy clean and controllable while working through the aluminum inclusions.
Here’s the full finishing process I used:
Dry sanded up to 320 grit
Wet sanded from there to 1000 grit
Finished with Yorkshire Grit Microfine, bringing the surface to roughly 2000 grit for that deep, glossy shine
