Sometimes, you have to make the best of a bad situation! In this video, I take a piece of ash wood full of bug holes and turn it into a unique, eye-catching bowl. After experimenting with different mediums to fill the holes and failing, I decided to embrace the imperfections instead.
I used a double scorching technique to create a beautifully textured effect on the outside with Black stain from the Intrinsic Range of Hampshire Sheen Colours, then highlighted it with Barney Purple Mica Powder from Eye Candy Pigments. A couple of coats of Hampshire Sheen sanding sealer locked in the design, and I finished the inside with Yorkshire Grit abrasive paste and Hampshire Sheen finishing wax.
