Since nobody decided to test on First Wednesday today, I thought I would upload this video as it's been on backlog for some time to keep videos in chronological order.
For the 10 AM test on campus in October (they did not test in November), I went to record the Modulator at the center of campus.
This particular siren was installed later than the DSAs, and was installed in 2008 to provide coverage to the center of campus, as the DSAs installed in 2004 only covered the perimeter of campus. I used both video and audio from the Panasonic on this video, as the Vixia audio was affected by a wind gust at the end of the test which reduced the ability to hear the DSAs winding down. I apologize for the mic making a weird noise on the wind-down from the first short blast before voice.
This siren was not loud at ALL despite being a 4016, and made some pretty bad crackling noises on startup. It crackled a bit on the wind down from the second alert too, but the camera didn't pick this up as well. Nevertheless, the echoes were insane because of the buildings surrounding the siren on all sides. I will say the 4016B in Lakewood I heard two years ago was MUCH louder than this one was, so it might have some blown drivers.
Sirens at The University of Akron are tested on the Third Wednesday of the month at 10 AM and 6 PM, although it is unknown whether or not they are tested in the winter. Enjoy!
