Yesterday for my first test I went down to see this 2001-130 at my now (former) high school. I met up with Cameron (Sirens of NE Ohio) at this test. We set up behind the visitor bleachers of the football field as it was very windy in the parking lot. It didn't block the wind as much as we'd have liked, but it worked somewhat.
I went to Chagrin Falls afterwards in hopes of catching their Whelen OmniAlert OA-2 which was installed last July, but there was some event in town and they didn't test despite a call being placed hours earlier when they assured me they were going to test. I probably won't attempt Chagrin Falls again because they usually either forget to test or cancel on a whim due to some event going on because that town always has some kind of event going on on the weekends.
This siren was installed in 2009 and was paid for by the Village of Richfield and Bath Township and was placed between Revere High School and Revere Middle School to provide protection to the staff and students in the Revere Local School District, which serves both communities. It was dedicated and first tested during the 2009 SWA Tornado Drill for the State of Ohio, which was held in March of that year.
I was hoping this siren would do 3 minutes like it has done for the past two weeks after a 3 week failure streak which ended after the radio was worked on again by Motorola, but apparently this week was Richfield's turn to activate as the siren only did one minute. Since this siren is on the border between the Village of Richfield and Bath Township, it is set up so the Police Departments in both communities can activate the siren.
It went off several minutes late and I was almost convinced it was going to fail again when it finally fired up. This is my best take of this siren so I won't be back here for awhile. I hope you enjoy the video!
